"The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination." – Carl Rogers
At the PG Department of Psychology, Jyoti Nivas College Autonomous, we are proud to offer two transformative postgraduate programmes: M.Sc. Psychology and M.Sc. Wellness Counselling. These programmes are designed not only to deepen theoretical knowledge but also to foster practical competencies, ethical sensitivity, and a compassionate understanding of human behaviour.
In today’s rapidly evolving and often challenging world, the need for well-trained mental health professionals has never been greater. With growing awareness around mental health, emotional resilience and holistic well-being, both of our programmes aim to prepare students to become skilled facilitators of change — in clinical settings, counselling centres, rehabilitation settings, educational institutions, corporate environments, and the wider community.
Our curriculum integrates classical and contemporary psychological theories with modern practices, including multicultural awareness, ethical sensitivity, evidence-based therapies, and wellness-focused approaches. Students are encouraged to grow personally and professionally in a supportive environment that values empathy, critical inquiry, and social relevance.
"Psychology helps to measure the probability that an aim is attainable." – Edward Thorndike
We believe our students carry that aim — to bring understanding, healing and growth into the lives of others — and we are committed to guiding them on this meaningful journey.
