Research Internship
Research Internships at JNIC are aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the UGC Guidelines for Research Internships to be made compulsory for all Undergraduate Students. The ‘Research Internships’ can be of two types – internships that enhance employability of an individual student, and the other internship to develop research aptitude of an individual student.

Under the Research Internship program students will:
- You will be assigned to a research supervisor
- complete a time-bound internship assignment with hands-on training in research tools, procedures, methodologies, and equipment, will be provided in addition to other aspects of carrying out a high-quality research.
- work with teachers and scientists in HEIs, research institutions, industry research labs, nationally renowned organisations, and individuals who have made significant contributions in their disciplines (draftsmen, artisans, musicians, artists, choreographers, etc.).
- be evaluated by supervisor at the end of the internship.
- maintain a activity logbook and submit research report.
NEP specification if for students to be given research orientation and related competencies, and undertake research internship projects, as part of the research ability enhancement courses (RAEC). Student can complete the first research internship of 10 weeks duration after 1st year and second research internship of 10 weeks duration after 2nd year of graduate degree programme. For the student who are part of the 4-year degree programme they are mandated to complete the research ability enhancement courses (REAC) during 7th semester and research project work or dissertation during 7th and 8th semester. Additionally, such students may undergo optional research internships after 2nd or 4th semester, to enhance their research capabilities, by engaging as interns in HEI or research institute or industrial R and D labs.
Entrepreneurship Opportunities
Venture Development Centre, GITAM (Deemed to be) University, is pleased to announce the launch of the Bold and Unique Idea Lead Development (BUILD) program in collaboration with the iTIC Incubator at IIT Hyderabad and Greenko Group. This is a distinct initiative aimed at scouting and supporting 75 student innovators, providing financial assistance as well as other necessary support for their creative and innovative ideas.
The primary objective of the BUILD program is to support undergraduate students and recent graduates in building innovative ideas that eventually turn into start-ups. It aims to foster a student-centric innovation ecosystem by providing resources such as design, fabrication, business mentorship, and other related support.
To support the BUILD program, we are inviting applications from innovators who meet our eligibility criteria:
- The innovator must be an Indian citizen
- Innovators must be UG students or recent graduates (2022 and later)
- An Individual Innovator or a team can also apply
- Innovation should contribute towards either the development or improvement of any product or process in existing or new fields; or should be a scalable business model with the potential to generate employment or wealth creation
