The Department was recognised as a centre for doctoral studies in English by Bengaluru City University in 2022 after a set of rigorous reviews and inspection. This is a testament to the institution and department’s commitment to promotion of research and knowledge generation within higher education. The centre for research is affiliated to Bengaluru City University and students are admitted through the university. In 2023, two faculty members – Dr. Preetha Vasan and Dr. Roopa Philip, were empanelled as research guides and research scholars assigned to both by BCU.
