Residential camp phase of the "Climate Skills: Seeds for Transition India" program.

A journey of climate action that began with a regional workshop in September has led to an exciting new chapter for one of our students. We are pleased to share that Jasmine S. Ammanagi, a first-year MSc Biological Sciences student at Jyoti Nivas College, has been selected for the residential camp phase of the "Climate Skills: Seeds for Transition India" program.

Jasmine attended the foundational workshop at the Bangalore International Centre (BIC) in Domlur, an event organized by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), the British Council, and HSBC. The two-day immersion provided valuable insights into climate challenges and sustainable solutions through modules like "The Climate Web of Bengaluru" and "Problem to Opportunity Tree".

The selection process drew participation from over 101 candidates who engaged in these regional rounds. These students represented five different states across South India: Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. Jasmine was among the participants chosen to advance to the next stage of the program.

The next phase is a five-day residential Sustainability and Leadership Camp scheduled to run from December 8th to December 12th in New Delhi, hosted at the Vishwa Yuva Kendra. As outlined on the official TERI website, the camp mentors participants to design and implement impactful social action projects aimed at creating real-world change.

We look forward to seeing the project she will pursue and the skills she brings back to the JNC community to inspire further climate action initiatives among her peers.
