Celebrating Experiential Learning — MSc Biological Sciences Students Attend Hands-on Herbal Product Formulation Workshop
The Department of Biological Sciences is delighted to share that our MSc Biological Sciences students recently participated in “Vruksha Amruthya: A Hands-on Workshop on Herbal Product Formulation”, organised by the Department of Botany, Mount Carmel College, Autonomous, Bengaluru, on 14th October 2025. The workshop offered an engaging and practice-driven introduction to the world of medicinal plants, wellness, and sustainable herbal product development. The session provided students with a rare opportunity to translate classroom knowledge into real-time applications.
Participants explored the therapeutic properties of various medicinal plants and learned to prepare simple herbal formulations using eco-friendly, plant-based ingredients. From oils and balms to wellness blends, the workshop highlighted how traditional botanical knowledge can be integrated with modern wellness needs.
The interactive demonstrations allowed students to understand each formulation step — ingredient selection, extraction methods, preparation techniques, and safety considerations. The emphasis on green alternatives also encouraged participants to think about sustainability, responsible sourcing, and the growing market for herbal products in today’s health-conscious world. Beyond technical learning, the workshop nurtured creativity and entrepreneurial thinking, inspiring students to consider how herbal science can contribute to community wellness and small-scale business opportunities. We appreciate Mount Carmel College’s Department of Botany for organising this informative and inspiring programme, and we commend our students for their enthusiastic participation. Such hands-on training experiences continue to strengthen our commitment to holistic scientific education that blends theory, practicality, and innovation.
