Research

The time spent at the Masters Degree must make a difference. In a way it is a stepping stone to a different life altogether. Since, this is the ideal time for study and teaching-learning thrives in an ambience wherein new knowledge is created, the courses have been planned carefully to enable the students for further academic pursuits.

Encouraging students at their master’s degree level to develop an interest in research is the first step in creating a culture of research. To make research a part of their curriculum, to start early so as to generate the interest in the young academicians is the purpose of our research activities.

Postgraduate studies are often the students’ first experience with research - be it researching for their numerous assignments and presentations or dissertations and minor research papers or writing for the various journals.

Journal

Journal  is an expression of knowledge and exposure of scholars and helps them to advance academically. The student journal has both internal & external experts review teams.

  • The annual research journal, ‘The Notebook’ edited by a team of 2nd year MA English students and containing articles relating to the field of literature, contributed by the students of MA English.

  • ‘Dhii’ is a biannual journal released twice a year by the students of MBA/MCA/MFA departments of post graduate centre, Jyoti Nivas College to ignite the young minds to research.

  • Book Review - by the students is published in the journal.

Research Papers - Students

Project

MBA Dissertation - The MBA students submit a dissertation in their area of interest in the Fourth Semester.  This research study would be a culmination of their academic studies.  The Dissertation will help the student to gain some research experience from their MBA program.

Summer Internship for MBA

Candidates will have to undergo 8 weeks internship training compulsorily in an organization of repute in India or Abroad after the II Semester in any one area of – Marketing / Finance / Human Resource. This provides the students with the opportunities of applying those concepts learnt in their classrooms to real-life situations.

MCA Industry Project

The final semester will be devoted to do industry real-time project work testing the student’s application in the fields studied so far and provide them with valuable experience before they step into the professional world of information technology.

MFA Project –
To have a practical perspective, the MFA Students carried out a project on ‘Mergers and Acquisitions’
  •  As part of this project, they were required to select a case study of two companies merging, de-merger of a business or restructuring.

The presentation involves Background, Mechanics of the Deal, SWOT Analysis, and evaluation of whether the deal was a success.

M.Sc Project Work

The final semester students undertake their projects in companies such as Biocon, Anthem Biosciences, Apotex and FRLHT.
