Adventure Club Report
Adventure Club, JNC, organised a one day trip to 'Muscal' which is 50 Kms from Bangalore. The team was accompanied by the Adventure club, JNC co-ordinator Dr CMVS. The technical experts from the Mrinalini K Muddi 'Out Back India', helped us conduct acivities such as rappling, and trekking. Twenty- five girls participated. The best part of the trip was building their own raft with local material - some logs, tyres and jute thread. They built two rafts, strong enough to undertake the journey of 5 kms distance in the river. This goes on to show that creativity and team work can produce wonders.

The students enjoyed the experience and requested that many such trips be conducted during the year. The major event of the Adventure club was the trip to Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling. A one month trip was organised by a team of 12 members accompanied by Adventure Club co - ordinator, Miss Smitha Nair of Electronics Department, JNC. This trip was throughly an adventurous one. The amateur team members had a life time experience. The team undertook a 12,000 feet altitude trek. They covered 120 kms trekking visiting places like Singla, Gok, Sandakpu, Rimbrik, Kaijale etc. They also viewed the Kanchanjunga Peak. They had other activities such as suspension, white water rafting and obstacle clearance. Students also participated in the competitions organised by HMI. The Adventure Club of JNC was declared as the most outstanding group among the visiting groups that participated from all over the country.

The Adventure Club is happy about its achievements in the year that passed by. However, the members of the Adventure Club, co - ordinators and management would miss the services rendered by Dr(Mrs) Geeta Singh who retired last December. As a co-ordinator of the Adventure Club, JNC, Dr (Mrs) Geeta Singh - throughout her 29 years of service-brought many laurels to the college. She organised Himalayan treks, motor cycle expeditions, inter -collegiate wall climbing competitions etc. We would like to continue her legacy with all sincerity.
