THE AICUF REPORT

"We are born in an unjust society, we are determined not to
leave as we find it"
is the motto of AICUF.

The activities for this year reflected the above motto. The inaugural talk was given by, Dr. Joseph Xavier S.J, President of Xavier Board of Higher Education. The central message of his address was " to be sensitive towards others and to build a humane society". The talk was a catalyst that kindled wareness and spurred the AICUF ers into action. On September 16th, a one-day seminar on 'Know AICUF' was arranged in Jyoti Nivas College. It was quite encouraging to see 90 students and animators participating in the seminar from many colleges in Bangalore and Mysore,The day's proceedings began with meditation and prayer led by Fr. Francis D'Almeida S.J. He explained in detail, the constitution of AICUF and highlighted the milestones in the life of AICUF which began in 1924.A group of students visited the Royal Parikrama School in Koramangala on a daily basis, to help the children in their studies. Parikrama Foundation was formed in 2003 with a mission to unleash the potential of the poor living in the slums and streets of Urban India. Parikrama takes in children at the age of five and looks after them till the children start earning a living. They provide formal education to under served children from slum areas in and around Bangalore. The AICUF students were happy to be part of this endeavour. eavour.

On December 19th the children from the school were brought to Jyoti Nivas College to celebrate Christmas. 'Family Services' a non-profitable voluntary organization that seeks to comfort and help those in need, gave a Christmas message through dance and songs. The children from Royal Parikrma enjoyed the programme and they also participated in carol singing, which created an atmosphere of Christmas all around. Our Principal Sr. Philomena Cardoza on behalf of the AICUF ers gave educational aids like books, C.D's, globe etc. for the school library. At the end Santa Claus distributed chocolates and cakes to the children. It was a memorable day for the kids and the AICUF ers. Another group of students made weekly visits to Premalaya an orphanage and Augustine Nivas an old age home. Every week, on Monday, AICUF members along with ''Jesus Youth' group organized prayer meeting in the
college. Ms. Savitha III PCM (the President of AICUF) motivated the AICUF members with her involvement and enthusiasm.

May the spirit of making a difference in the society inspire and continue.
